Horse Pens 40 Bouldering & Climbing Trip

This is a bouldering and camping adventure. Friday night Scout Patrols will have the "Iron Scout" cooking competition. Saturday will be for Bouldering and later Venture Patrol members will go to Pallisades and Rope climb. We will drive to Horse Pens 40 ( 1.5 hr drive), and return to the Drake house around 1:30 Saturday for scouts and late afternoon for Venture Patrol Scouts (will call by cell phone but estimate around 5:30 pm). Cost for the trip is $27.00 per person which includes camping; $10/person budget for food (Patrols to use budget to provide Dinner, breakfast, and lunch; and transportation. Please sign up on the website ASAP so we can finalize our plans. Signed waiver(attached) with check is due Tuesday Feb 17th to go.

Brad Killough, a certified climbing instructor, will instruct on Bouldering in the morning and take the Venture Patrol Rock Climbing in the afternoon (helmets and ropes/equip provided for $2 each)

Must turn in waiver filled out/signed along with check for $27.00 (to Ken Smith by Feb 17th)
Cost Breakdown:
$10.60/person camping fee
$ 6.00/person gas
$ 10.40/person budgeted for Dinner, Breakfast and lunch (packable)
Total = $27.00/person
Schedule:
Friday: Arrive at the Drake House by 2:30 PM.
Friday Night "Iron Scout" cooking competition with Tales of Horse Pens.
Saturday Morning: 06:00-07:30 Breakfast & morning devotion.
07:30- 8:30 clean up and load trailer.
08:30 - 12:00 instruction and bouldering.
12:00 - 13:30 Non-Venture Patrol Scouts eat lunch and drive back to Drake House
12:00 - 16:00 Venture Patrol (+ Brad and 2 Dads) eat lunch and climbing at Palisades Park.
16:00 - 17:30 Venture Patrol Scouts travel back to Drake House.

Note: Venture Patrol will arrive home later than other scouts (seperate vehicle). Non-Venture Patrol Scouts will leave around 12:00 and be back at Drake House around 1:30 pm on Saturday.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iron Scout patrol cooking competition- The Theme is Anything Chicken!
You will be judged on (See Iron Scout Sheet)
a. the meal meets the pyramid complete food groups.
b. Creativity and taste.
c. Presentation to the judges! ie: serve it on a plate to them!
d. Panera Patrol is sending a Secret Ingredient! Bonus points for how you use it
Remember, you have several boys needing to cook a meal to advance in
rank so please ask in your patrol and help them out. You can all help plan the menu!
You will also be cooking breakfast. Lunch should be something you can prepare without cooking. This should allow 3 scouts per patrol to prepare a meal!
Saturday morning you will meet an awesome Christian Professional Rock
and Bouldering Instructor who will train you to Boulder! You all will have fun! The
Venture Patrol will be taken up further with Brad (instructor) and two dads to do some serious " rocking" and use ropes too.
Venture Group will head back to Hsv. late that afternoon and NOT stop for dinner.
