Major Website Updates Coming!

I apologize if you were trying to get on the troop website last night (Monday). I was working very hard to get the core software that makes the website work migrated to the latest version. There's a lot of really cool stuff that'll be available in the update, once it's ready:

Event Calendar Improvements
The new way of entering events is easier and expandable. And when you click on an event in the calendar, you'll get a Google-like popup bubble with the core information. You'll still be able to click a "more" link to get the full story.
Better Groups
Using "organic groups" technology, each group (like PLC, Venture Patrol, Troop Moms) can have their own area, with both public and private blogs, events, stories, and calendar
Better Maintenance
It's going to be *way* easier to maintain and update the site.
Better Security
The web is crawling with hackers who want to eat websites for lunch. I believe we've been very secure so far. We'll have even stronger security measures with the new version.

So, why aren't we done yet? The main thing that I haven't yet figured out is how to do signups in the new version. The signup module has gone away. Never fear, I know there's another way to do it. I just haven't figured it out yet. Once I do figure it out, we'll make the switch.

When we finally do the update, I'll preserve as much of our information as possible.

Psst... Wanna see it? Sneak peak at http://d6.troop757.us. It's not pretty yet, but it has most of the information from the official site.
